The cast and crew of Thor: Ragnarok appear to have grown quite close during their shoot in Australia. Even so, director Taika Waititi has shared a photo of Chris Hemsworth throwing him a middle finger in honor of the actor’s birthday.

Waititi took to Instagram to post the photo, which sees Hemsworth in costume as Thor flipping the bird to the director in his motion capture gear. Waititi, of course, wore the gear to bring the Planet Hulk character of Korg to life for Ragnarok. In fact, he also performed motion capture elements for Surtur (who is voiced by Clancy Brown) as well.

“Happy birthday Chris Hemsworth,” Waititi wrote. “Thank you for being so cool to me and such a supportive friend. So rare to find a connection like ours.”

Speaking to ComicBook.com at San Diego Comic-Con, Waititi expressed some of his appreciation for the Thor: Ragnarok cast and crew.

“You look at the cast and they’re all beautiful, they’re all talented, they’re all funny,” Waititi said . “I couldn’t have been luckier with that cast. And Chris [Hemsworth] especially, he’s one of the funniest guys I know. We really exploited that, I really tapped into that side of him. You’re going to see a version of Thor that’s the most fun and I think the most lovable, a version of Thor I think that people are going to like.”

The Thor: Ragnarok trailers have already been a hit with fans, dominating discussion on social media whenever they release. Part of that is due to Hemsworth’s comedic nature as Thor โ€” especially in the scenes he’s shared with Mark Ruffalo’s Banner and Hulk characters.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters November 3, 2017.
