Injustice 2: All Premier Skins And The Easiest Ways To Unlock Them

Injustice 2 shipped with an impressively-stuffed roster (29 characters including pre-order bonus Darkseid) and unlike many fighters you may have played in the past, there’s very little unlocking required. Almost all the characters are available from the get go. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the game’s Premier Skins.

Premier Skins turn select characters into completely different heroes or villains. These new fighters have the same moveset as the original character, but their own look, intro and voice clips. Premier Skins have to be unlocked, and the main way to get them is to trade in Source Crystals, which you earn by playing through the Multiverse, completing Daily Challenges, and leveling up your player profile. Earning Source Crystals can be a bit of a drag (NetherRealm would prefer you buy them with real-world money), but there are alternate ways to unlock most Premier skins without doing a ton of grinding.

So, here’s your guide to all the Premier Skins revealed so far, along with all the available options for unlocking them. You’re going to want some of these skins, so why not save yourself a bit of hassle?

Mister Freeze

Replaces: Captain Cold

ICE to meet you! Mr. Freeze is, of course, Batman’s longtime ice-themed foe. For most of his history Freeze has been a fairly one-note bad guy, but Batman: The Animated Series gave him a more tragic backstory, in which it was explained he was created while trying to cure his terminally ill wife, Nora. Freeze is a pretty obvious choice for a Captain Cold Premier Skin.

Power Girl

Replaces: Supergirl

Power Girl is a natural choice for a Supergirl Premier Skin, as she actually is Supergirl. Or, at least she was Supergirl in another universe. When Earth-Two’s Kara Zor-El became stranded on our Earth, she rebranded herself Power Girl to differentiate herself from the main DC Universe’s Supergirl. For years Power Girl was mainly known for her iconic white costume, complete with controversial “boob window,” but she became a fan-favorite character in her own right in the 2000s thanks to a fun run by writer Jimmy Palmiotti and artist Amanda Conner.

How to unlock Power Girl: Buy the Injustice 2: Ultimate Edition or Fighter Pack 1 DLC to get her instantly, or spend 6000 Source Crystals.

Golden Age Flash

Replaces: Flash

Prior to being redesigned in the late 1950s, the Flash had a very different look. The original Flash was Jay Garrick, who got his powers by inhaling heavy water vapors, because old comics weren’t too sure how science works. The original Flash was a founding member of the Justice Society of America, and thanks to time travel and various retcons, has fought alongside later Flashes like Barry Allen and Wally West on numerous occasions.

Reverse-Flash

Replaces: Flash

Yup, for some reason Flash gets two Premier Skins. Reverse-Flash is pretty much summed up by his name โ€“ his outfit has been color swapped, he’s powered by the negative speed force, and he’s bad instead of good! Reverse-Flash has been the Flash’s number one enemy for most of his career, because sure, why not? Sometimes comics just aren’t that complicated.

How to unlock Reverse-Flash: Buy Injustice 2: Ultimate Edition to get him instantly, or spend 6000 Source Crystals.

Grid

Replaces: Cyborg

The newest character on this list, Grid debuted back in 2013 in the pages of Justice League. Grid started out as a malevolent computer program, but eventually was given a body made of Cyborg’s spare parts. So, basically, Grid is Cyborg’s Reverse-Flash. All superheroes have to have the evil version of themselves, even Cyborg.

How to unlock Grid: Link Injustice 2 with the mobile game to get him instantly, or spend 6000 Source Crystals.

Green Lantern (John Stewart)

Replaces: Green Lantern

Originally introduced in the 70s as Hal Jordan’s temporary replacement, John Stewart was DC’s first major black superhero. Stewart continued as a semi-regular part of the Green Lantern universe, but really rose to prominence when he was chosen as the primary Green Lantern for the early-2000s Justice League animated series. He’s now arguably just as (if not more) popular than Hal Jordan.

Vixen

Replaces: Cheetah

One of DC Comics’ first black female superheroes, Vixen has remained relatively obscure throughout her career. Vixen first stepped into the spotlight as a member of Aquaman’s somewhat forgettable Justice League Detroit, and has continued to be a team player ever since, having stints on the Suicide Squad and later versions of the Justice League. Eventually, she got her own limited solo series by then-unknown writer G. Willow Wilson back in the mid-2000s.

Bonus! How to Unlock Darkseidย andย Brainiac

As mentioned, Injustice 2 largely casts aside the unlocking thing, but there are a couple characters that won’t be available automatically. In order to get Darkseid you need to have pre-ordered Injustice 2 or you can purchase him for $6 from the Xbox or PlayStation store. Meanwhile, you’ll have to play all the way through Injustice 2‘s story mode in order to get your hands on Brainiac.

And there you have it! How to get every single playable DC Comics character in Injustice 2! You may have to do a little bit of work, but compared to many past fighters, it really isn’t that bad.

Injustice 2 is available now on Xbox One and PS4. You can check WWG’s latest coverage ofInjustice 2 here, and our extensive back catalog of stories, right here.
